Actress Manisha Koirala, who has successfully battled ovarian cancer, maintained a vibrant and cheerful demeanour as she stepped out for a public function in New York recently.

The 42-year-old was seen wearing trousers, a white shirt, a casual white coat and a red hat. Manisha covered her head with a tied-up stole, and then further concealed it with the bright red hat -- and she not only looked elegant, she was also happier and healthier.

Even her face and her smile reflected a unique glow as she interacted with several women in a green, open space.

"I am free from cancer," Manisha said at the event, thanking all those who wished her recovery during her tough time, according to Nepalese channel White Himal TV, which operates from New York.

Manisha, who carved her own niche in the Hindi film industry with films like Bombay, 1942: A Love Story and Dil Se, was initially admitted to Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital on November 28 last year after which she flew down to the US for further treatment.

She is expected to return to India towards June end, her manager Subroto Ghosh, told IANS, adding: "She is now fine, all hale and hearty."

The actress is missing the Mumbai monsoon. She took to her Facebook page to share her thoughts, and posted: "Got to know (about) lovely rains in Mumbai. Can't wait to be on my terrace!"

"The whole team is doing really well in all the three departments. We are the top fielding side in world cricket as of now; we need to keep the intensity up," said Dhoni after India beat their arch-rivals by eight wickets here at Edgbaston to finish top of Group B.

India had caused two outstanding run-outs of Pakistani batsmen during the match.

The wicket-keeper batsmen also praised swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the presentation ceremony.

"Bhuvneshwar bowls in very good areas and can swing the ball. He's someone who has given us the early breakthroughs. (It is) good to see him bowl well."

ChennaiDMK chief M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi today filed her nomination for a second term in the Rajya Sabha. Her current term as MP ends next month.

"I have filed nomination with the confidence that we will win. I've confidence that my leader and brother will take care of it," Ms Kanimozhi said.

Tamil Nadu has 18 Rajya Sabha seats. Six of them are up for grabs in July because the terms of the current members are ending.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her party, the AIADMK, are putting up five candidates, effectively contesting all the vacancies.

The DMK by itself does not have enough state legislators to win a single seat.  A candidate needs 34 votes to get elected. The DMK, which has 23 MLAs in 235-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, should ensure support of 11 other legislators to be absolutely sure of a seat in the Rajya Sabha elections on June 27.

Political analysts say Mr Karunanidhi is hoping to ally with the Congress for the elections. In March, his party quit the union government accusing it of not taking a firm enough stand at the UN against Sri Lanka over the alleged war crimes by its armed forces.

The DMK is also trying to win the support of the PKM and DMDK, headed by actor Vijayakanth.

Ms Kanimozhi spent 193 days in jail on charges that she helped her party colleague and former union minister A Raja accept a bribe from a telecom firm.

I won't forget the days spent in jail: Sreesanth

New Delhi, June 11 (IANS) India fast bowler S.Sreesanth, who was released from Tihar jail Tuesday on bail, said the last 27 days have taught him a lot and retiterated that he was innocent.
"I am very happy. I should thank my lawyer. It was a testing phase for me, the last 27 days. I believe in the Indian judiciary and I am sure my innocence will be proved," Sreesanth told reporters in a press conference here after coming out of jail.
"I played the game in the right spirit. I'll abide by the process of law.
"I won't forget the days spent in jail. The last 27 days have taught me a lot. I can say I totally believe in Indian judiciary. My innocence will be proven soon," said Sreesanth.
A Delhi court Monday granted bail to suspended cricketer Sreesanth, his Rajasthan Royals teammate Ankeet Chavan and 17 bookies who were booked under the provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the IPL spot fixing scandal.
Additional Session Judge Vinay Kumar Khanna granted bail to the accused on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000 each with one surety of the like amount.
The court said granting bail to accused indicted police for slapping stringent provisions of MCOCA and that there was no prima facie evidence to try them under the act.
Another Rajasthan Royals cricketer, Ajit Chandila, and six others had not applied for bail.
Delhi Police have so far arrested 26 people, including Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates, in connection with the case.
