Anna's co-villagers head for Mumbai to fill MMRDA Ground

Not to let Anna down, the Hazare supporters from Ralegan headed for Mumbai in eight vehicles on Tuesday and were expected to join the protest on Wednesday

Mumbai/Ralegan Siddhi: As anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare's agitation saw an empty MMRDA ground, the Gandhian's supporters from his village Ralegan Siddhi have decided to fill up the venue in Mumbai as much as possible.

Not to let him down, the Hazare supporters from Ralegan headed for Mumbai in eight vehicles on Tuesday and were expected to join the protest on Wednesday.

The sarpanch of the village said, "Anna's health is deteriorating so around 200 people from the village are leaving for Mumbai. We will request Annaji to break his fast because the country needs him. We will ask him to fast when his health improves."

The first day of Anna Hazare's agitation was a disappointment for the anti-corruption brigade. The lack of Mumbaikars' support saw the MMRDA ground never quite full of protesters on Tuesday, which was a huge contrast to the massive gathering at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan in August this year.

Team Anna was expecting a crowd of over 1 lakh protestors, but the visitors' number on the first day was estimated between 4,000 and 10,000.
